Day 16, Day 17 & Day 18

So I am slightly behind... stupid stomach virus... so I am combining Day 16, 17 and 18 into one post since they are short and quick anyways!

Day 16-Dream house
Ok, I honestly do not know what my dream house would be/look like. I know the basics- hardwood floors, steel appliances, HUGE laundry room, breakfast nook, 2 ovens, a mudroom, master suite... thats about all I know right now. And since my dream house is about 5 million years away, I'd rather not think about it and get depressed!

Day 17-Something you're looking forward to
SUMMER. Which means: MAINE, lobstuh, sailing, BEING TAN, the lake!, cook out parties, kayaking, concerts, whoopie pies, BEACH, the crazy crab, LILLY PULITZER, new bikinis!, sand in my toes, flip flops, sundresses, espadrilles, etc!

Day 18-Something you regret
Not being more involved with my college. I did the sorority thing and was involved in that, but I was really more focused on internships and working while in college. I am SO THANKFUL that was I was because I got a wonderful internship and a job very fast afterwards. I do wish I had been involved in something else on campus besides just my sorority.

Thankful on this Thursday

I have never participated before in Thankful Thursdays, and I decided it was time to!
This Thursday,
I am so thankful for these two sweet friends.

t

We have been through a lot together over the past five years... being awkward freshman together, regretting boys we've dated, way too many sonic trips, skipping phi mu chapters, countless phi mu parties (with non-compliant dates cough Ty Ty and Drew), getting jobs and becoming adults, and sadly moving away from each other :(

Green beer? yes please!

A few weekends ago, I attended LuckyFest at Park Tavern with a few friends here in Atlanta. It was my birthday weekend and Barney's birthday weekend! I never got around to posting about it last week, so I am now a week later. Enjoy!

Where my heart now belongs

I recently began a new job working with children who have Autism. I have a little previous experience with Autism, but it was a subject I did not have a lot of knowledge of. Over the last few weeks, I have learned and had my eyes opened to what life with Autism is all about. My children are truly gifts from God and although some days may be tougher than others, I wouldn't trade my job for the world.

I wanted to share what exactly Autism is and a video about the Marcus Autism Center. It is a wonderful place that has changed the lives of so many families.

Here are some facts about Autism:

1. Autism now affects 1 in 110 children and 1 in 70 boys
2. Autism is the fastest-growing serious developmental disability in the U.S.
3. There is no medical detection or cure for autism
4. More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with AIDS, diabetes & cancer combined

Signs of Autism:
  • No big smiles or other warm, joyful expressions by six months or thereafter
  • No back-and-forth sharing of sounds, smiles, or other facial expressions by nine months or thereafter
  • No babbling by 12 months
  • No back-and-forth gestures, such as pointing, showing, reaching, or waving by 12 months
  • No words by 16 months
  • No two-word meaningful phrases (without imitating or repeating) by 24 months
  • Any loss of speech or babbling or social skills at any age

For more information about Autism visit this website.

Below is the video I mentioned earlier...

Also, on May 22, 2011, is the Walk Now for Autism Speaks.

The Marcus Autism Center sponsors this walk.
I am walking with my co-workers.
I am also asking for donations for this cause.
If you would like to donate, please click this link.
No donation is too small,
EVERY donation is important and helps so much regardless of the dollar amount.

Day Thirteen: Goals

At this point in my life, I have already achieved so many of my goals. Get into a great university, graduate in four years, etc.

As I am moving into a new chapter in my life (which is scary some of the time!) my goals have shifted and become more long-term. Currently, I only really have 2 main goals.

1. To excel and fall deeper in love with my career. Whether that may be working with kids with autism or finding a Child Life job.

2. To strengthen my relationship with Christ. This one will probably always be a goal no matter what chapter of life I am in.

Day Twelve: My beliefs

So I've been horrible about this blog challenge, but I WILL finish it (even if it takes me a couple of months... whoops!)

Day 12: my beliefs:

In the depth of Your love, I find peace that makes me whole ♥

"There's a difference between religion and a relationship. Don't be weighed down by religion. Fall in love with Jesus."

"God doesn't give you the people you want, He gives you the people you need. To help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to make you into the person you were meant to be."

“God created us to live with a single passion: to joyfully display His supreme excellence in all the spheres of life. The wasted life is the life without this passion. God calls us to pray and think and dream and plan and work not to be made much of, but to make much of Him in every part of our lives.” -John Piper

"I believe elegance can be casual. I believe gracefulness is compatible with fits of laughter. I believe its completely acceptable to be sexy. I believe in dinner parties. Charity parties. Beach parties. Dance parties & parties in general."
-Lilly Pulitzer

“I've had a lot of time to look back on my life. And the things that I remember best - those are the things I wasn't supposed to do and I did them anyway. The thing is, life is too damn short to be following these rules." - Grey's Anatomy

Day Ten: Something I am afraid of

I am deathly afraid of:

1. heights
2. elevators

... Climbing up flights of stairs where you can look down and see the bottom scares me beyond belief. I refuse to get on a ladder. I also try not to go on elevators unless absolutely necessary. My brother is scared of elevators too... maybe it's genetic? Or maybe its cause we were forced on Tower of Terror when we little? Who knows. All I know is, my heart starts racing and every fear imaginable pops into my mind. It's wonderful, really.

Day Nine: A picture of your friends

Okay, I have way too many different groups of friends to be able to post just one picture. So I'm gonna post several! Sorry for all of those I left out. Love you, I just couldn't post every picture that I had!
